Division of Respiratory Medicine under Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine consistently plays an integral role in the development and refinement of curriculum for both medical undergraduate and post-graduates specialising in Respiratory Medicine. Our commitment extends to a dynamic engagement in regular bedside teaching, tutorial sessions, mock examinations and comprehensive lectures.
Futhermore, our esteemed team of academicians is dedicated to delivering continuous medical education, aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of our junior doctors and post-graduate students. This unwavering commitment reflects our passion for fostering a robust lerning environment and advancing the field of Respiratory Medicine.
Currently, we have 39 beds to cater for respiratory inpatients care. These beds are situated in wad 12U and Wad Perubatan 2 (WP2). There are 23 respiratory beds in Ward 12U and 16 respiratory isolation rooms in WP2. The isolation rooms in WP2 are used for isolation of patients with repsiratory infections.
Diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy is performed in the Endoscopy Unit. This is located on the 6th floor, South Tower (Menara Selatan) of the hospital. The endoscopic suites are shared with other disciplines of medicine, e.g., Gastroenterology Division of Internal Medicine and the Surgery Department. Various endoscopic procedures, with or without fluoroscopy imaging, are performed in this unit.
A day-care unit for the administration of chemotherapy/ immunotherapy and biologics, and daycare respiratory procedures such as pleurocentesis.
The primary goal of our CME sessions is to provide comprehensive education to post-graduste doctors, keeping them abreast of the latest advancements and evidence in the field of Respiratory Medicine. Through these sessions, we aim to enhance the knowledge and skills of our participants, enabling them to deliver the highest standard of care to patients with respiratory diseases. We believe that staying informed about current evidence is crucial of delivering optimal healthcare in the ever-evolving fields of Respiratory Medicine.
Our esteemed senior consultants lead discussion aimed ate enhancing understandaing and knowlegde on the intricate management of complex respiratory diseases. This education platform provides opportunity to doctors under training to improve their case presentation skills and problem-solving skills.
Specialised bedside teaching sessions are regularly conducted by Respiratory Consultants and Specialists at the Division of Respiratory Medicine. These sessions are meticulously tailored to cater candidates preparing for the Internal Medicine Master Examination or pursuing the MRCP (UK) examination.
This consultant lead discussion focuses on mortality cases within the Respiratory Unit. This Meeting aims to not only review such cases but also serves as an educational platform for junior members, fostering continuous improvement in our services.
This recurring event is designed to facilitate in-depth discussions on intricate cases related to respiratory disorders. Our distinguished panel, consisting of expert radiologists and pulmonologists, collaboratively examines cases, emphasising shared decision-making strategies aimed at optimising patient outcomes.
The aim of this meeting is to discuss complex cases of respiratory disorder with a panel of expert pathologists and pulmonologists with a focus on collaborative decision-making to arrive at precise pathological diagnoses.
