SERVICE / SECTION

Our Nephrology Division is an established renal training centre at Universiti Malaya Medical Center in Malaysia and is actively involved in the training undergraduste, post-graduate medical students and nephrology trainees.

We also organised courses for allied healthcare professionals.

a. Haemodialysis Short Course - for Nurses

This course was started in 2016 and being held annually. This course aims to provide latest information and practical points for our nurses in caring for patients with kidney disease.

b. CKD Educator Course - For Nurses

This was started in 2015 and the objective of this course is to empower our nurses the necessary skill in the role as educator for patients with chronic kidney disease.

c. Advanced Diploma in Renal Nursing

UMMC provide post basic renal nursing diploma to interested participants over a course of 6 months. 

We have one dedicated renal ward with 23 acute beds. We provide renal outpatiet and inpatient services, with many state of the art facilities. Apart from the usual nephrology services, we also provide;

  • Multi-Disciplinary CKD clinic with CKD educator service
  • Kidney transplant (living & Cardaveric) including ABO incompatible kidney transplant
  • Non-dialysis supportive care treatment for ESKD patient (with Palliative Care team)
  • Lipid Apheresis for fimilial hypercholestrolaemia
  • Haemodiafiltration and expanded haemodialysis (HDx)
