Division of Infectious Disease is one of the units under Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. We are well recognised as a teaching and training centre for Infectious Diseases in Malaysia and Internationally. Our faculty includes clinical specialists, consultants, lecturers, and professors who are experienced in clinical service, teaching and research. They are involved in training undergraduate students (UMMP programme), medical masters students (MMED programme), clinical fellowship (National ID training) and supervise both masters and PhD candidates.
The Centre of Excellence for Research in Infectious Diseases and AIDS (CERIA) is a research centre under the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. It was established in 2007 by Founding Director, Dato' Prof. Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman. The current director is Associate Professor Dr. Raja Iskandar Azwa. Members include those form the Infectious Diseases unit, other staff form the Department of Medicine and some staff from the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine. CERIA has spearheaded and managed many research collaborations within the university, nationally and internationally. Our collaborators includes the Ministry of Health Malaysia, Yale University, National University of Singapore, University of Melbourne, John Hopkins University, University of Glasgow, University of Liverpool, The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) Vietnam, University of Connecticut and University of Delaware amongs others.
We offer clinical services at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre caring for patients with complicated infections, tropical infections, people living with HIV and key affected populations.
